Description
Bone and Rib Shear
This bone and rib shear offers a general pattern at a practical 23 cm length. Surgeons use it to cut ribs and other small bone.
A general pattern
Not every case needs a named rib shear. Instead, this general design covers everyday cuts at a moderate length. So it works well as a tray standard.
What it cuts
Typical jobs include trimming a rib end or removing a short segment. Also, surgeons use it on small bone outside the chest. That flexibility makes it useful on general sets.
Why 23 cm
This length balances leverage with close control. However, deep thoracic work may call for a longer bone and rib shear. For those cases, pair it with a 35 cm pattern.
One shear for many sets
A single general shear can stand in for several named patterns on a basic set. Then specialist models stay on thoracic trays where they matter. Meanwhile, the general pattern handles routine cuts.
Reprocessing bone and rib shear
After use, open the shear and rinse the joint under running water. Then scrub the edges with a nylon brush and look for chips. Let it dry fully before it goes into the sterilization tray.
