Description
Lamina Spreader Blade
This lamina spreader blade replaces a blade on a lamina spreader for spine surgery. Blades come in several lengths, two widths and two tooth styles.
Lengths
Choose a 30, 40, 50, 65 or 75 mm length. Short blades suit shallow levels, while longer ones reach deeper. So match length to how far down the lamina sits.
Widths
Blades come 12 or 20 mm wide. The narrow width fits a tight interlaminar space. By contrast, the 20 mm width spreads the load across more bone.
Sharp or blunt teeth
Sharp teeth bite into bone and resist slipping. However, blunt teeth sit more gently on the surface. Therefore, choose the style that suits the bone you expect.
A replacement part
It needs a spreader body to work, so check that it matches the spreader already on your spine tray. Also, it lets you refresh worn teeth without buying a new instrument. Plus, a spare lamina spreader blade in each size keeps options open.
Cleaning lamina spreader blade
Brush the teeth carefully, since bone fragments lodge between them. Next, rinse and dry each blade fully. Finally, store sharp and blunt blades apart so you pick the right one quickly.
