Description
Beckmann-Eaton Retractor
The Beckmann-Eaton retractor is a big self-retaining spreader with wide toothed arms. Surgeons use it to hold long, deep wounds open during spinal and other deep procedures.
Wide grip for long incisions
This retractor has 7 x 7 teeth. So, it spreads its hold over a broad stretch of tissue. As a result, it keeps a long wound open evenly from end to end.
One length, two tooth styles
We sell the Beckmann-Eaton retractor at 32 cm. You can choose blunt or sharp teeth. Sharp teeth sink into thick muscle, while blunt teeth press against the tissue without piercing it.
Typical procedures
For instance, surgeons use it for multi-level lumbar or thoracic exposures. It also suits large muscle openings elsewhere in the body. Our retractor listings carry it too for that reason.
Choosing blunt or sharp
Think about the tissue type you meet most often. If you work mainly through heavy muscle, sharp teeth may hold better. Otherwise, blunt teeth give a gentler grip near vessels and nerves.
Caring for your Beckmann-Eaton retractor
Rinse between all the teeth right after surgery, because tissue collects there. Next, brush the joint and ratchet area. Let it dry completely, then run it through sterilization with the arms spread.
