Description
Barraquer-Fino Cyclodialysis Spatula
The Barraquer-Fino cyclodialysis spatula is one of the finest blades in our range, at just 0.25 mm wide and 12 mm long. It suits precise work through very small openings. Because it is so thin, it moves tissue with almost no bulk.
A 0.25 mm blade and what it allows
A blade this fine can pass through a tiny port with little leak. It can also slip between layers that a wider blade would push apart. However, it carries less force, so it suits light, exact moves.
Reach of the 12 mm Barraquer-Fino
The 12 mm length gives a little extra reach over 10 mm designs. That helps when you work across the chamber. Still, the blade stays short enough to keep steady.
Where the fine Barraquer blade fits
This blade fits tasks like:
- Fine sweeps along the angle
- Freeing small iris adhesions
- Light work through a side port
Pairing fine and firm spatulas
A fine blade works best with a firmer partner on the tray. For example, start a sweep with a 1.2 mm blade, then finish delicate spots with this one. That way, each tool does what it does best.
Protecting an ultra-thin tip
Thin steel bends with little force. So never use this spatula to pry, and keep it in a guarded slot. After cleaning, look at the tip under magnification; even a slight bend changes how it glides.
Ordering the 0.25 mm spatula
Barraquer-Fino blades travel unsterile; a gentle wash and a sterilizing cycle prepare the 0.25 mm tip, and it can return for more fine cases. Fino steel conforms to ASTM F899. The Barraquer-Fino blade carries our warranty of three years against manufacturing defects. See more fine eye surgery instruments, or compare the sturdier Elschnig spatula at 1.2 mm.
