Description
Bacon Bone Rongeur Forceps
The Bacon bone rongeur is a forceps with cupped jaws for biting away bone. Neurosurgeons and spine surgeons rely on it to trim bony margins and clear small fragments.
A general bone biter
Rongeurs take bone out in small bites. Because each bite is limited, the surgeon controls how much bone comes away. This makes the Bacon pattern useful for shaping edges near sensitive tissue.
Size offered
We stock the rongeur in a 20 cm length. That length gives good leverage while staying easy to handle. For jaw dimensions, ask our team and we will take calipers to a sample.
In a surgical set
For example, after opening the skull, the surgeon may smooth the bone margin with a rongeur. Likewise, in spinal work, it helps remove spinous process or lamina. Many trays carry two or three rongeurs of different patterns.
Choosing a rongeur pattern
Different patterns vary in jaw shape and size. So, think about the bone you remove most often. If you want an alternative with curved or straight options, compare this tool with other patterns before you decide.
Caring for your Bacon bone rongeur
Flush bone chips from the jaws immediately after use. Then brush the hinge while it is still wet. Finally, dry the rongeur, lubricate the joint if your protocol allows, and sterilize it.
