Description
Alcohol Burner
The alcohol burner gives a small, steady flame for heating and flaming small items. Four capacities cover short and long sessions.
Capacities
We offer 100, 120, 150 and 200 cc. Smaller burners suit occasional use. Meanwhile, larger ones run longer between refills.
Why an alcohol burner
Spirit burns cleanly with little soot. It needs no gas line. As a result, it works on any bench.
Typical uses
Labs flame loops and needles. In addition, clinics warm small items. Teaching labs also use them.
Safety
Fill only when the burner is cold. Next, keep the flame away from paper and gloves. Also, cap it to put out the flame.
Wick care
Trim the wick for an even flame. Replace it when it chars down. A good wick keeps the flame steady.
Choosing a capacity
For instance, a 100 cc burner suits a short teaching session. In contrast, a 200 cc burner runs through a full day of bench work. As a result, larger sizes need fewer refills.
Alcohol burner options
- 100, 120, 150 or 200 cc
- Cap for snuffing
- Replaceable wick
Care
Empty the burner before cleaning. Wash the body and dry. Then refill when cold.
Aftercare and help
Each burner passes a personal review in Atlanta prior to packing. The burner body carries three years against manufacturing defects, though wicks are a wear item. A backup burner in stores helps on busy days. To read about instrument steels, go to ASTM F899. For order basics, open our customer FAQ. For a sister pattern, see the crucible tongs.
