A shorter tonsil knife

At 18 cm, the Abraham pattern is the shortest blade we offer for tonsil work. So it gives close control, which some surgeons prefer for smaller mouths. The curve still lets the blade reach into the fossa.

Length and shape

Our listing gives 18 cm with a curved shape. By comparison, the Douglas and Canfield knives measure 20 cm. Meanwhile, the Fisher knife reaches 23 cm.

Using it in tonsillectomy

The surgeon typically starts with an incision along the anterior pillar. Then they deepen it with the knife and switch to a dissector. Also, the knife can help divide tissue at the lower pole.

Is 18 cm right for you?

If you treat many children, then the Abraham tonsil knife may suit you. However, for adults with deep fossae, a longer knife may help. Many trays carry two lengths for this reason.

Take care with the edge while cleaning. First, rinse off blood right after surgery. Next, brush it gently, then dry the Abraham tonsil knife completely and sterilize it.
