Description
Wire Tightener
The wire tightener tensions fixation wire around bone and secures it. You can choose a single peg or a double peg design.
What it does
Cerclage wire wraps around bone to hold fragments together. Then the wire must be tensioned firmly. Furthermore, a tightener applies that tension evenly.
Single or double peg
The pegs hold the wire ends during tensioning. Therefore a double peg can manage two ends together. Choose the version that matches your technique.
Who uses a wire tightener
Trauma surgeons use it in cerclage of femur, patella and olecranon fractures. Also, it helps in osteotomy fixation. Wire sets carry it as standard.
Tensioning steps
Pass the wire around the bone and load the ends onto the tightener. Then turn to tension and twist. Cut the excess and bend the twist down.
Even tension
Uneven tension can loosen the wire later. Consequently, steady turning gives the best result. Check the wire sits flat on bone.

The pledge on each tightener
When every tightener shows a factory issue, we honor three years against manufacturing defects. Every tightener goes through a detailed look by our Atlanta team before it leaves. Think about adding our Parham pattern. For quick answers, scan our customer FAQ. We gladly quote multiples for your clinic. FDA records list ASTM F899 for medical-grade stainless steel. Smaller hospitals order a backup tightener for busy lists. Related options wait in the orthopedic catalog.
Not for home use. Page images may show a sibling size, while the steel includes some nickel; open the care instructions for the full note. Exchange terms appear on the returns and refunds page.
