Description
Weitlaner Retractor
The Weitlaner retractor is a self-retaining spreader with a ratchet that holds a small incision open. It comes from 10 to 20 cm, with sharp or blunt teeth.
3 x 4 teeth
The main range has 3 x 4 teeth in 13, 15 and 20 cm. You can choose sharp or blunt teeth at each length. So one pattern covers many incision sizes across general and orthopedic work.
Smaller 2 x 3 options
For tighter wounds, we offer a 2 x 3 Lok-Tite version at 10 cm. Also, a 2 x 3 Baby model comes at 13 cm. Then there is a 14 cm blunt version as well, for a middle size with gentle teeth.
Where teams use it
General, orthopedic and plastic surgeons all rely on this pattern. Because it holds skin and muscle apart hands-free, it suits small incisions. Plus, the ratchet lets you set the spread in steps.
Sharp or blunt
Sharp teeth grip firmly and resist slipping in tough tissue. However, blunt teeth treat delicate layers more gently. So many trays stock both types of Weitlaner retractor.
Reprocessing Weitlaner retractor
Release the ratchet and open the arms before washing. Next, brush every tooth and the ratchet, where debris lodges. Finally, dry it and hang it on a rack with the ratchet released.
