Walton Polypus And Dressing Forceps
The Walton dressing forceps hold swabs, dressings and soft tissue such as polyps. Oval jaws with a ratchet keep a swab gripped firmly while the surgeon mops or applies it.
Two lengths, two shapes
You can choose 17 cm or 25 cm, and each comes straight or curved. In short, four combinations cover surface dressing work as well as deep vaginal or abdominal swabbing.
What the Walton dressing forceps do best
A loaded swab on a long forceps reaches places a gloved hand cannot. As a result, the team can clean or dry a deep field quickly without widening the incision.
Polyp removal
The oval jaws also grasp soft polyps at their base. With a gentle twist, the polyp separates and stays held in the jaws for inspection.
Loading a swab
Fold the swab so no loose edge hangs free, then close the jaws to the first ratchet step. Tuck the folded edge inside the jaws, which stops threads from shedding in the wound.
Straight or curved
Straight forceps suit direct access, for example at the cervix. On the other hand, a curved pair reaches around the bowel or into the pelvic gutters more easily.
Walton dressing forceps options

- Straight or curved
- Oval jaws with ratchet
Walton reprocessing
Open the ratchet and soak the forceps briefly to loosen fibres from the jaws. Brush the oval rings, rinse well and dry before sterilising.
Support in brief
Each Walton size and shape comes with three years against manufacturing defects, ratchet included. A staff member in Atlanta checks the forceps in detail before shipment. One extra forceps on standby avoids delays. Further designs wait in the general surgical department. For more on steels for surgery, check ASTM F899. For a close alternative, try our Pelkmann forceps. The questions page covers common order questions.
