Description
Troutman (Colibri) Fixation Forceps, 1 x 2 Teeth
A short 7.5 cm tool, the Troutman colibri fixation forceps suits microscope work. Its angled tip holds 0.12 mm teeth set one against two. So it handles fine corneal edges with the hand tucked close and low.
Short and close
A 7.5 cm handle keeps the fingertips near the tip. Because of that, tiny moves translate directly. Many corneal surgeons prefer short forceps for this reason.
- 7.5 cm length
- Colibri bend at the tip
- 0.12 mm teeth in a 1:2 pattern
- Reusable after reprocessing
Troutman and corneal work
Richard Troutman gave his name to many corneal tools. So it makes sense to pair this forceps with Troutman scissors or needle holders. Together they form a consistent set for corneal suturing.
Working under the microscope
Short forceps fit well when the microscope sits low over the eye. Also, the angled tip keeps your view of the wound open. Then you can watch each suture bite as it forms.
Short or long Colibri?
If you like a long lever, the 10 cm or 13 cm patterns may suit you. However, if you prefer close control, the Troutman is a good fit. Try both lengths to find your match.
Protecting the 0.12 mm teeth
Keep the tips away from hard surfaces. After use, rinse and brush the tip gently. Next, inspect the teeth with a loupe, and store the forceps in a guard.
Troutman Colibri ordering
Your forceps arrives non-sterile. Troutman owners keep three years against manufacturing defects. Troutman tips come from stainless steel per ASTM F899. For an even shorter pattern, try the 7 cm Barraquer-Katzin Colibri. See more eye instruments and our FAQs.
For professional use only. Troutman care follows our sterilization guide, and transit follows our delivery guide.
