Description
Trelet Vaginal Speculum
The Trelet vaginal speculum has a self-retaining design, so it holds its opening without an assistant. It comes in three blade sizes.
Self-retaining
Once positioned, the speculum stays open on its own. Therefore, both of the surgeon’s hands remain free. Also, the view stays stable through longer procedures.
Three figures
Fig 1 has an 85×33 mm blade, the smallest in the range. Then Fig 2 steps up to 95×35 mm. Finally, Fig 3 offers the largest blade at 115×43 mm.
Choosing a figure
Pick the figure by vaginal depth and width. For example, Fig 1 suits a shorter, narrower canal. By contrast, Fig 3 gives more length and width for deeper surgery.
Where it helps
Surgeons choose the Trelet vaginal speculum when no assistant can spare a hand to hold a blade. In addition, it suits vaginal procedures that need a steady view. So it earns a place on many vaginal surgery trays. Also, many teams keep two figures on hand so they can change size without delay.
Looking after Trelet vaginal speculum
Open the speculum fully before washing so you reach every surface. Next, rinse under warm water and brush any moving parts. Finally, dry it thoroughly and store it closed to protect the blades.
