Description
Thoms-Gaylor Cervical Biopsy and Specimen Forceps
Thoms-Gaylor biopsy forceps take small tissue samples from the cervix for lab review. Their jaws close to a 5.6 mm bite, which suits targeted sampling.
Box joint or screw joint
You can order this pattern with a box joint at 22 or 24 cm. Alternatively, a screw joint version comes at 24 cm only. So your choice of joint also narrows the length options.
A 5.6 mm bite
The bite size sets how much tissue each closure removes. Because 5.6 mm stays fairly small, it suits a precise sample from a chosen spot. Then the specimen goes straight into the container for pathology.
Where it fits in the clinic
Gynecologists reach for cervical biopsy forceps during colposcopy work. The 22 or 24 cm length keeps your hand clear of the speculum view. Meanwhile, the jaws reach the cervix without crowding the field.
Choosing between 22 and 24 cm
The 22 cm size gives a slightly shorter reach for a shallow field. By contrast, the 24 cm length helps with a deeper vagina or a longer speculum. Also, keep Thoms-Gaylor biopsy forceps in each length if your team shares instruments.
Cleaning Thoms-Gaylor biopsy forceps
Open the jaws fully and flush out every trace of tissue after each case. A soft brush reaches the cutting edges without dulling them. Then dry each pair and keep the jaws lightly shut in storage.
