Description
Taylor Blade for Scoville Retractor
This Taylor blade for Scoville retractor frames fits onto a Scoville spinal retractor, where it keeps paraspinal muscle out of the way. Surgeons choose it when they want the Taylor blade shape on a self-retaining frame.
What the blade does
The blade forms the part of the retractor that touches the tissue. Therefore, its size decides how deep and how wide the exposure will be. Swapping blades lets one Scoville frame handle many patients.
Four sizes
We sell four sizes: 48×50, 64×50, 64×64 and 80×57 mm. The 48×50 mm blade suits shallow wounds. Meanwhile, the 80×57 mm blade reaches deepest, while the two 64 mm sizes cover the middle.
Where it fits
Spine teams use Scoville retractors during laminectomy and other posterior approaches. The Taylor blade for Scoville retractor frames adds a further shape to that set. So you can keep the frame you know and change only the blade.
Choosing a size
First, confirm your frame accepts Scoville blades. Next, compare your current blades with our sizes. If you are unsure which figure is depth and which is width, ask us and we will confirm before you order.
Caring for your Taylor blade
Detach the blade from the frame once surgery ends. Then wash it with warm water, detergent and a soft brush, especially around the fitting. Dry it well and sterilize it with the frame.
