Takahashi Sinuscopy Forceps

Takahashi sinuscopy forceps grasp and remove tissue from the nasal cavity. Surgeons pick this pattern during endoscopic sinus surgery, for example in the ethmoid region.

A grasping pattern for the sinuses

The jaws open and close at the tip of a slim shaft. Therefore the surgeon can reach tissue while the endoscope stays in view. The forceps then lift the tissue out of the nasal cavity.

Two lengths

Two working lengths are on offer, 12 cm and 17 cm. Both versions share a 4 x 10 mm jaw. So the choice depends mainly on reach and personal preference.

In sinus surgery

Sinus trays hold several grasping and cutting forceps. For instance, a surgeon may remove loose tissue with this pattern. Then a cutting forceps or punch trims what remains.

Choosing a length

Shorter forceps give fine control near the front of the nose. In contrast, the 17 cm version reaches further back. Many surgeons keep both sizes on the tray.
