Description
Stockmann Penis Clamp
A small sprung clamp used to occlude the urethra, for incontinence management and during procedures where flow has to be interrupted briefly. The frame is wire, so it is light enough to be worn and narrow enough not to spread the load over more tissue than necessary.
How it closes
Two curved arms come together under spring pressure, with a ring at the top that catches and holds them. Closure is a single action, and it releases as quickly, which is the requirement for an instrument that may need to come off in a hurry.
Pressure
Occlusion should be achieved with the least pressure that works, and the clamp should be released and repositioned regularly. That is a clinical matter rather than a property of the instrument, but it is worth saying plainly, because a sprung clamp gives the same force every time whether or not that force is still appropriate.
Care
Reprocess with the arms relaxed and never latched. Check that the frame returns to its rest position and that the ring catch still holds positively. A frame that has lost spring or a catch that slips should be retired rather than adjusted.
