The Sluder-Ballenger tonsillectome is a guillotine-type instrument for tonsil removal. Surgeons engage the tonsil in the ring and then close a blade across it.
The guillotine method
The Sluder technique takes the tonsil in one movement. So the surgeon positions the ring around the tonsil, then closes the blade. This approach dates back many decades, and some surgeons still use it today.
Complete or handle only

Where it fits today
