Description
Simon Bone Curette
The Simon bone curette is a long-shanked curette offered in six figures. The figures step the cup size up, so a set covers small and large cavities alike.
Six figures
Figures 1 to 6 give a graded range of cups. Figure 1 is the smallest. By contrast, figure 6 clears a large cavity in fewer strokes.
Long reach
The shank is long, so the cup reaches deep cavities. Therefore it suits long bones, the pelvis and the spine. The hand stays well above the wound.
Where the Simon bone curette helps
Orthopedic surgeons use it to clear cysts and infected bone. It also helps harvest cancellous graft from the iliac crest. Spine teams may use it in disc spaces.
Choosing figures
Start with a middle figure, such as 3 or 4. Then add a small and a large figure to cover extremes. That trio handles most cases.
Why graded figures matter
Starting with a small cup protects healthy bone at the edges. Then larger cups clear the center quickly. As a result, the cavity ends up clean without being made larger than needed.

Cleaning long curettes

The promise for each curette
Prior to dispatch, a colleague in Atlanta goes over every curette one at a time. Should each curette show a factory fault, you can claim three years against manufacturing defects. Busy theaters hold a spare curette for back-to-back cases. Also worth a look is our Spratt curette. We also answer questions for new trays. For a primer on instrument alloys, check ASTM F899. Other designs appear in the orthopedic range. For quick answers, read the customer FAQ.
Sold to licensed professionals. Listing photos may show a sibling size, and the alloy includes nickel; visit the sterilization page for advice. Delivery options appear on the shipping page.
