Description
Scherbak Vaginal Speculum Complete Set
The Scherbak speculum set gives you a complete weighted vaginal speculum in one order. It includes the handle, a weight and blades, with a choice of 400 g or 800 g.
How a weighted speculum works
A weighted speculum holds the posterior vaginal wall down by gravity. So the assistant does not need to pull on it constantly. That way, retraction stays steady through the procedure.
Light or heavy weight
The 400 g weight gives lighter retraction. By contrast, the 800 g weight adds more downward pull. Therefore, choose the weight to suit the procedure and patient.
Interchangeable blades
Scherbak blades come in Fig 1 to Fig 5, and extra ones sell separately. Then you can add sizes as your needs grow. Also, a worn blade swaps out without a new handle.
Complete or in parts
Buy the Scherbak speculum set if you want to equip a new tray. However, if you already own a handle, the weight and blades also come on their own. Plus, spares keep a second setup ready during busy lists.
Cleaning Scherbak speculum set
Take the speculum apart into handle, weight and blades before cleaning. Next, wash each piece in warm detergent and rinse it thoroughly. Once everything dries, reassemble it or store the parts together in one tray.
