Rosen Elevator

The Rosen elevator is a fine elevator for ear microsurgery. Otologists use it to lift the tympanomeatal flap and to separate thin tissue from bone.

Lifting without tearing

The skin of the canal and the eardrum are delicate. So the surgeon needs an elevator that slides under tissue and lifts it evenly. A smooth, small tip helps avoid tears.

Four options

Choose a 2.5 mm or 1.5 mm tip. Then decide between straight and curved. Those two choices make four versions, all roughly 16 cm long in our catalogue.

In tympanoplasty and stapes surgery

After an incision in the canal skin, the surgeon raises the flap with an elevator. Next, they can enter the middle ear. The same elevator often helps position grafts later in the case.

How to choose

The 1.5 mm tip suits narrow spaces and fine flaps. The 2.5 mm tip, however, lifts wider areas faster. Also consider shape: curved tips help when the canal wall bulges. Many surgeons keep two versions on hand.

Caring for your Rosen elevator

Wipe the tip after use and rinse it with water. Then brush it gently, let it dry, and inspect the edge under light. Sterilize it in a tray where the tip cannot press against metal.
