Description
Rogge Sterilizing Forceps
The Rogge sterilizing forceps lift sterile dressings, bowls and instruments from drums and trays. Their broad jaws hold flat and round items securely.
Length of the Rogge sterilizing forceps
They measure 23 cm. Also, that reaches into most drums and deep trays. Meanwhile, the hand stays well clear of the sterile contents.
Broad jaws
Wide jaws spread the grip across the item. As a result, bowls and gallipots do not tip as you lift them. In addition, folded dressings stay folded.
Typical uses
Sterile services, theatres and clinics use them. For example, they lift gallipots onto a trolley. They also pass sterile packs to the scrub team.
Lifting technique
Open the jaws wide and close them on the edge of the item. Next, lift slowly and keep it level. Finally, set it down before releasing.
Storing between uses
Stand the forceps tips down in a clean holder. Change the holder often. Moreover, that way, the tips stay clean through the session.
Choosing a pattern
Rogge jaws suit broad items. By contrast, Cheatle jaws suit smaller instruments. In addition, many departments keep both.

Reprocessing the Rogge pattern
Open the joint and brush it clean. Rinse well and let it dry. Afterwards, sterilise the forceps before they go back into the holder.
