Description
Pozzi Tenaculum Forceps
The Pozzi tenaculum is a widely used single-tooth tenaculum for holding the cervix. It measures about 25 cm, a length that suits office and operating room use.
Single-tooth design
The single-tooth design takes a small, focused hold on the cervix. So it grips without covering much of the cervical surface. Also, it leaves space for other instruments at the os.
IUD insertion
Clinicians grasp the cervix with a tenaculum before placing an IUD. Then gentle traction straightens the canal for the sound and inserter. As a result, the device can follow a more direct path.
Other procedures
It also helps during endometrial biopsy, dilation and hysteroscopy. Meanwhile, it pairs with a speculum and sound on most office trays. Therefore, many clinics keep several on hand.
Stocking for a busy clinic
High-volume clinics often turn over tenacula quickly between appointments. So keep enough Pozzi tenaculum forceps to cover a full session. Plus, a spare avoids delays while the others go through reprocessing.
Reprocessing Pozzi tenaculum
Inspect both teeth after every use, since a blunt tip slips. Next, clean and rinse the forceps, then dry them fully before packing. Store each one with the teeth guarded and the instrument fully dry.
