Description
Osteotome
This small orthopedic osteotome is a short, compact blade for controlled bone cuts. At roughly 13.5 cm long, it sits close to the hand and gives fine control on small bones.
A short, steady small orthopedic osteotome
A short tool moves less at the tip when the hand shakes. Because of this, the edge stays on the mark. A light mallet is usually all the force you need.
Six widths
Choose 8, 10, 12, 14 or 16 mm at 13.5 cm. There is also a 23 mm blade at 13 cm. So you can match the cut to the bone, from a toe to a wrist.
Where a small orthopedic osteotome helps
Hand and foot teams use it for small corrective cuts. It also suits facial work and pediatric cases. Many surgeons keep two or three widths together for quick changes.
Starting the cut
Mark the line first, then seat the edge at one end. After that, tap lightly until the blade bites. Finally, follow the line with steady blows so the bone splits where you planned.

Edge maintenance
Clean the blade straight after use and dry it at once. Then check the edge under a light. Store the widths in a slotted rack so they never rub together.
