Description
Nott Vaginal Speculum
The Nott vaginal speculum is a bivalve pattern with two opposing blades. It comes with 30 mm wide blades in a choice of two lengths.
Bivalve design
Two blades part to hold back the anterior and posterior walls. So the cervix sits in clear view between them. Then you can take a sample, apply a treatment or pass an instrument.
Same width, two lengths
Both sizes share a 30 mm blade width. However, one measures 90 mm long and the other 110 mm. Therefore, you choose purely by the depth you need to reach.
Where it fits
It suits routine examination in clinics, wards and operating theaters. Also, it works well for minor procedures on the cervix, such as sampling. Plus, it gives teams that trained on the Nott pattern a familiar tool.
Choosing a length
The 90 mm Nott vaginal speculum suits shorter anatomy and quick exams. Meanwhile, the 110 mm size reaches further for deeper work. Since the width stays the same, the view opens to a similar breadth.
Care of Nott vaginal speculum
Wash the blades with a neutral detergent after each patient. Next, rinse the surfaces well so no detergent remains on the steel. Then dry the instrument thoroughly and lay it flat to store until the next session.
