Description
Mod. Tubingen Air Injection Cannula
The modified Tubingen air injection cannula is a fine tool for placing air into the anterior chamber. Because it takes a syringe at the hub, it gives a small, steady puff. Surgeons use it to reform the chamber, to check a wound, or to support tissue with a bubble.
Tubingen pattern, modified
Tubingen tools come from the German university eye clinic tradition. Similarly, the modified version keeps the core idea, a fine tube for gentle air delivery. However, details of the tip can differ from the original. So check the product images if the exact profile matters to you.
What the listing includes
Only one version appears on this page. You receive:
- Fine air injection tube
- Syringe hub
- Modified Tubingen tip
- Stainless build that tolerates steam
Air delivery technique
First, fill the syringe with filtered air and purge any fluid. Then enter the port with the tip just past the wound. Inject a small amount and watch the bubble form. If it splits into small bubbles, pause and let them join before you add more.
Picking an air cannula
We list straight, curved and modified Tubingen air cannulas. The straight 27 and 30 gauge tool offers a gauge choice. Meanwhile, the Sauter adds a curve. Choose the Tubingen if you trained with it or prefer its tip.
Cleaning the air cannula
Even air cannulas meet fluid inside the eye. So flush the tube with water after each case, then air dry it. Then check that air passes freely before packing. It is supplied unsterile; reprocess it fully before every use.
Tubingen cannula cover
Hub, tube and tip share one warranty: three years against manufacturing defects. Our tubing steel follows ASTM F899. You can view all ophthalmic air and irrigating cannulas together. For a curved tip, try the Sauter curved air cannula. The Intrace help pages answer order questions.
