Description
Micro Retractor with Concave Bur Deflector
This bur deflector retractor does two jobs with one small tip. It holds a reflected flap away from the bone. At the same time, its concave face sits between the soft tissue and a turning bur. The catalogue gives the tip width as 9.5 mm, and the item comes in that single size.
What a Concave Deflector Protects
A rotary bur can catch a flap edge in an instant. The concave tip therefore cups the tissue and keeps it behind a steel barrier. So the surgeon can trim a ridge or prepare a window with less worry about the flap. The curve also keeps the tip seated against bone instead of sliding off.
Why 9.5 mm Is a Useful Width
At 9.5 mm, the tip is narrow enough for a single implant site. Yet it is still wide enough to shield the flap along the length of a typical osteotomy. Larger retractors, by contrast, can block the view in a tight premolar space. This micro size keeps the field open.
Where It Fits in a Case
Think of it as a precision tool, not a cheek retractor. For example, it helps during ridge reduction, lateral window preparation or bone harvesting near the flap. Meanwhile, a larger retractor can still hold the cheek. The assistant then manages the cheek while the surgeon controls this micro tip.
The steel is made to the ASTM F899 standard. Our United States inspectors check the concave tip for burrs and a clean finish before dispatch. Also, the retractor carries three years against manufacturing defects in its deflector tip and handle. Browse Surgical Retractors for more options, and hold the cheek with a Minnesota Retractor in the same case. Ordering and return answers are in the FAQs.
