Description
Metzenbaum Dissecting Scissors
Metzenbaum scissors are the standard fine dissecting scissors for soft tissue. The range runs from 14.5 to 30 cm.
Many lengths
The 14.5 to 18 cm sizes suit superficial work. Meanwhile, the 20 to 30 cm sizes reach deep abdominal and chest fields.
Tips and edges at 14.5 cm
The 14.5 cm size comes blunt/blunt, sharp/blunt or sharp/sharp. In addition, a saw-edge version grips slippery tissue.
Tungsten carbide range
Tungsten carbide blades run from 11.5 to 30 cm. So you can match plain and carbide pairs across a set.
Dissecting, not cutting sutures
The fine blades suit tissue, not sutures. Therefore keep a separate pair for sutures, because suture material dulls the edge. Also, spread with the closed tips to open planes. Then cut only what you can see between the blades.
Care of Metzenbaum scissors
Rinse the fine blades soon after use. Next, brush the joint gently and dry fully. Finally, keep them in a rack that shields the points.
