The Mercedes rib spreader is a self-retaining thoracic retractor. A threaded spindle driven by a T-bar handle opens the arms and holds the set spread on its own, so the team keeps a clear field through the procedure without maintaining hand pressure and without a ratchet to release under load.

Each arm carries a detachable blade secured by a single stud, so blades are changed on the instrument and replaced individually as they wear.

Intrace USA supplies it in four configurations, so you replace only the part you need:

• Complete Set — spreader supplied with both blade pairs
• Spreader — the instrument on its own
• Blades, 48.0 × 68.0 mm — replacement pair
• Blades, 70.0 × 75.0 mm — replacement pair
