Lucae Ear Dressing Forceps

Lucae ear dressing forceps are bayonet forceps for ear care. Clinicians use them to place and remove packing, gauze strips and dressings in the ear canal.

The bayonet shape

A bayonet instrument steps sideways between the handle and the working end. So the hand sits offset from the line of sight. The clinician can then watch the tips through a speculum or under a headlight.

Two lengths

We offer 14 cm and 16 cm versions. The 14 cm length gives close control for routine dressings. The 16 cm length, meanwhile, adds reach and keeps the hand further back. Both share the bayonet form.

In ear procedures

After ear surgery, surgeons often pack the canal to support healing. Then, at follow-up, the packing must come out gently. These forceps handle both jobs, and they also help with medicated wicks.

Choosing a length

If you mostly work in clinic with a head mirror or headlight, the 14 cm size may suit you. On the other hand, microscope users often prefer the 16 cm size. Consider ordering both for a complete set.

Rinse the tips after every use, especially after contact with discharge. Next, brush the joint and inner surfaces gently. Finally, dry the forceps and sterilize them.
