Description
Love Nerve Root Retractor
The Love nerve root retractor holds the nerve root and dura aside during spinal surgery. Surgeons use it widely in lumbar discectomy, where the disc lies next to the root.
A classic spine retractor
The Love pattern is one of the best-known nerve root retractors. Its blade sits against the root and moves it medially. Therefore the surgeon gets a clear, safe view of the disc space.
Three patterns
We list the retractor at 18 cm with a 7 mm blade in three patterns. The patterns differ in the angle of the blade. However, we prefer to confirm with photos, so please contact us before you choose.
During a discectomy
First, the surgeon opens the ligament and identifies the root. Next, an assistant seats the blade and keeps the root clear. Then disc rongeurs remove the herniated material. In short, the retractor protects the root during the key step.
Choosing a pattern
Different angles suit different levels and patient builds. So many trays hold two or three patterns. If you already own one, tell us which, and we will suggest a complement.
Caring for your Love nerve root retractor
Rinse the blade soon after surgery. Then brush where the blade meets the shaft. After that, dry it well and sterilize it.
