Description
Lester Tissue Forceps
The Lester tissue forceps hold delicate eye tissue and fix the globe during surgery. Two tooth patterns suit different grips.
Tooth patterns
We offer 1:2 teeth and 2:3 teeth. Both run 9 cm long. As a result, you can choose a finer or broader grip.
Why the Lester tissue forceps
Small teeth grip without crushing. Consequently, tissue heals better. That matters around the eye.
Typical uses
Eye surgeons use it in cataract and glaucoma surgery. In addition, it helps fix the globe during incisions. It also suits conjunctival work.
Technique
Grip close to the limbus with light pressure. Then hold steady while the other hand works. Also, release slowly.
Choosing a pattern
1:2 teeth give a precise point grip. By contrast, 2:3 teeth spread the hold. In addition, many surgeons keep both.
Under the microscope
The fine tips stay visible at high magnification. Therefore, placement is accurate. Check the teeth before each case.

The checks for each forceps
A team member in Atlanta inspects the Lester pattern by eye ahead of dispatch. Either tooth pattern carries three years against manufacturing defects. Teeth stay true. For a sister pattern, check our Bangerter forceps. Related patterns appear in our general surgery line. Need stock for a new tray? Get in touch before you order. Our help page walks through orders, shipping and returns. Larger surgical teams hold a spare forceps in case one is out for service. To learn about surgical stainless steel, look up ASTM F899.
