Krause Nasal Snare

Description

Krause Nasal Snare

The Krause nasal snare is a classic polyp snare for the nose. Surgeons use it to loop wire around a polyp and cut it free at the base. Then forceps lift the loose polyp out of the nose.

A well-known pattern

Krause snares have appeared in ENT sets for generations. The design places a wire loop at the tip, and the user closes it with the handle. As a result, the polyp comes off in one controlled step.

Length and shape

We sell one Krause version: curved, with an overall length of 25 cm. The length gives reach deep in the nasal cavity. However, the curve keeps the hand clear of the sight line.

Steps with a Krause snare

First, thread fresh wire and form a loop. Next, guide the loop over the polyp and down to its stalk. Then close the loop slowly, since a steady pull gives a clean cut.

Planning your snare supplies

Each case uses new wire, so keep a roll on hand. Our snare wire rolls come as 0.3 or 0.4 mm. Also consider a second Krause if you run several polyp cases in a day.

Caring for the Krause

After use, remove and discard the wire. Then rinse and brush the Krause, including the wire channel. Dry it completely, and sterilize it before storage.
