Kilner-Doughty Mouth Gag Set

Description

Kilner-Doughty Mouth Gag Set

The Kilner-Doughty mouth gag is a classic gag for palate surgery. Plastic and cleft surgeons use it to hold the mouth open and the tongue down during cleft palate repair.

Built for palate work

Palate repair needs a wide, steady view of the roof of the mouth. So the gag opens the jaws and keeps the tongue out of the way. The surgeon then works with fine instruments on the palate.

Sold as a set

We offer this item as a set rather than single parts. However, the site does not list sizes or contents. Contact us and we will confirm what the set includes before you order.

Where it sits in cleft surgery

Cleft teams often keep more than one gag pattern available. For example, some surgeons prefer this pattern, while others favor a Dingmann gag. The choice usually reflects training and habit.

Before you order

First, decide whether you need a full set or a matching replacement. Next, ask us for the parts list and dimensions. That way you can check fit with your existing tray.

Caring for your Kilner-Doughty mouth gag

Separate the parts that come apart and rinse them after surgery. Then brush each joint and slot with a soft brush. Finally, dry the parts well and sterilize them together.
