The Dingmann mouth gag holds the mouth open during palate and oral surgery. Surgeons often use this pattern, also spelled Dingman, for cleft palate repair.

Once in place, the gag keeps the mouth open without a hand on it. As a result, the surgeon and assistant have both hands free. That matters in long, delicate palate work.

Take the gag apart where it separates, then rinse each part. Next, brush the joints and slots with a soft brush. Dry all parts fully and sterilize them together.
