Description
Killian Nasal Speculum
The Killian nasal speculum is a long-bladed speculum for septal surgery. Surgeons use a Killian nasal speculum to open the nostril and hold the septal flaps apart during septoplasty.
Long blades for deep exposure
Septal work happens well inside the nose. Therefore the Killian has longer blades than a clinic speculum does. They slide between the mucosal flaps and open a working channel down to the septal cartilage and bone.
Four blade lengths
You can choose 90 mm, 75 mm, 50 mm or 35 mm blades. The 35 and 50 mm Killian blades suit the front of the septum. Meanwhile, the 75 and 90 mm blades reach the posterior septum.
A plain version
This listing covers the plain Killian without a light guide. So it relies on a headlight or an endoscope for illumination, while the blades do the spreading. If you want a lit blade, we also sell a fiber optic Killian.
Building a Killian set
Many surgeons keep a short and a long Killian on the septoplasty tray. For instance, a 50 mm blade opens the entrance, and then a 75 mm blade takes over deeper in. Tell us your usual depth, and we will propose two Killian blades.
Caring for the Killian blades
First, rinse the Killian after surgery to lift off blood and mucus. Then clean the hinge with a soft brush while the blades stand open. Dry it fully and sterilize it.

Ordering a plain Killian
A three-year warranty protects your Killian speculum, and it covers Killian workmanship defects. Our Atlanta staff open each Killian and inspect the blades by hand before shipping. The Killian speculum FAQs answer typical ordering questions. For Killian steel, ASTM F899 is the relevant surgical instrument standard. A lit alternative is the Killian speculum with fiber optic blade. See our septal surgery and ENT instruments for more.
Killian specula are for professional use. Killian buyers can check the Killian care and sterilization page about Killian photos and the nickel inside stainless steel. Unused Killian specula may return under our Killian returns terms.
