Description
Impactor For Dynamic Hip Screws
The DHS impactor seats the side plate of a dynamic hip screw. After the plate slides over the lag screw, gentle taps on the impactor bring it flush with the femur.
Seating the plate
The plate barrel must slide fully over the lag screw. Then the plate must sit flat against the bone. Therefore the impactor transfers light mallet blows to the plate.
Controlled impaction with the DHS impactor
Too much force can split the bone or drive the screw deeper. Consequently, use light, steady taps. Check the result on imaging.
Who uses the DHS impactor
Intertrochanteric fracture fixation is its main job. In addition, scrub teams pass it together with a mallet. Sets list it beside the plate holder.
Fracture compression
In some techniques, impaction also compresses the fracture slightly. However, follow your system’s guidance for this step. Also, each set has its own sequence.
Part of a system
The impactor works with the plate and lag screw of your system. Therefore confirm compatibility before ordering. Additionally, we can help match it.
