Description
Humby Dermatome Knife
The Humby dermatome knife cuts split thickness skin grafts by hand. A roller guard runs ahead of the blade and sets the gap, so the graft comes away at a steady thickness.
How the roller guard works
The roller rides on the skin in front of the edge. You adjust the gap between roller and blade to choose the graft thickness. Then long, even strokes lift a sheet of skin of consistent depth.
With blade or without
The With Blade option arrives ready to use. Meanwhile, the Without Blade option suits teams who already hold replacement blades. Both versions measure 36 cm overall.
Care of the Humby dermatome knife
Take out the blade before cleaning. Then brush the roller and its axle, because tissue collects there. Dry every part and reassemble only after sterilization.
Getting an even graft
Lubricate the donor skin lightly and keep it taut with graft boards. Then hold the knife at a shallow angle and use a smooth, back-and-forth motion. Watch the translucency of the graft as it lifts, because it shows the depth. Finally, check the roller setting again before each new donor site. In addition, keep spare blades in stock, since a dull edge tears the graft. Replace the blade whenever the stroke starts to drag.

Warranty and supply
We cover the knife for three years against manufacturing defects. Before dispatch, staff in Atlanta check the roller and blade seat. See our FAQs for care. In addition, ASTM F899 applies to the steel, and our graft and amputation knives share this category.
Please note
One photo serves both versions. Sold for professional use. Nickel is present in stainless steel, so we accept no liability for reactions to it. The FDA page on materials has more.
