Description
Hosel Needle Holder
The Hosel needle holder gives you 25 cm of reach for deep suturing. It comes with plain stainless jaws or with tungsten carbide inserts.
Standard jaws
The standard version keeps the jaws in plain stainless steel. So it makes a simple, economical choice for general closure at depth. Many teams keep one as a spare long holder.
Normal profile carbide
In the carbide model, hard inserts carry a regular serration. Therefore it holds general suture needles firmly, and the grip wears far more slowly. Since the inserts outlast plain steel, busy theatres often prefer this Hosel needle holder with carbide.
Why 25 cm
A long shank keeps your hand clear of the wound edge. Plus, the extra length lets you work past packs and retractors without strain. Also, the ratchet frees your other hand for forceps.
Choosing a version
Pick standard jaws if you want a basic long holder at a lower price. Instead, choose carbide if the Hosel needle holder will see daily use. In both cases the finger rings and ratchet work the same way.
Care of Hosel needle holder
Rinse the long shanks right after the case, since debris hides near the box joint. Then scrub the jaws and ratchet teeth with a nylon brush. Also, dry the holder completely before you pack it for sterilization.
