Hatfield Bone Curette

The Hatfield bone curette carries an oval cup on a long shank. It comes in two lengths and nine cup sizes, so you can match reach and bite to each case.

Oval cups

An oval cup is longer than it is wide. Therefore it takes a broader sweep along the wall while staying narrow enough to enter a slot. That shape suits disc spaces and long bone cavities.

Nine sizes in two lengths

Cups run from 3.0 x 5.0 mm up to 10.5 x 16.8 mm. In between sit 3.5 x 5.5, 4.5 x 6.4, 5.0 x 8.0, 6.0 x 9.0, 7.0 x 11.0, 8.5 x 12.5 and 9.5 x 14.5 mm. Every cup comes at 23 cm and 28 cm.

Where the Hatfield bone curette works

Spine surgeons use it to clear disc material and prepare endplates. Also, orthopedic teams use it in bone cysts and joint work. Additionally, the longer shank helps in deep approaches.

Picking length and cup

Choose 23 cm for most open cases. However, choose 28 cm when the target lies deep, such as in the lumbar spine. Then pick a cup that fits the space with a little room to move.

Care of long curettes

Brush the cup and the full shank after use. Then rinse and dry well before sterilization. Store each size in a labeled slot so the right cup is easy to find.
