Description
Gill Iris Forceps, 1×2 Teeth, 0.3mm
The Gill iris forceps is a fine 7.5cm forceps with 1×2 teeth sized at 0.3mm. It holds thin tissue with a small, secure bite. Surgeons use the pattern on the iris and nearby structures, where tissue is soft and space is tight. It is a sound pick for cataract and other anterior segment steps.
What 0.3mm teeth give you
Teeth of 0.3mm are small, yet they still grip with purpose. They hold better than a smooth tip on slick tissue. At the same time, they cause less damage than coarse teeth.
A short, nimble body
The 7.5cm length keeps the tool light. So you can turn and tilt it with your fingertips. That makes it easy to reach into small spaces without moving your whole hand. In addition, a light tool lowers strain on the fingers during long lists.
When to pick this over the Gill-Hess
The Gill-Hess version offers a choice of side or below teeth. By contrast, this one has a single, set tooth pattern. Pick this model when you want a simple, standard 1×2 bite.
Use checklist
- Tips closed and aligned
- No bent or missing teeth
- Smooth spring action
- Clean and dry before sterilizing
Care for small teeth
Fine teeth trap debris. Therefore, flush the Gill tips straight after the case and brush gently. Then check them under magnification, since a bent tooth can tear tissue. Send it for service once the tips stop meeting cleanly.
This forceps ships non-sterile and works for many cases after cleaning and sterilization. We use stainless steel that meets ASTM F899. Gill owners get a Gill warranty for three years against manufacturing defects; Gill teeth included. Keep the order email as proof.
