Frazier Suction Tube

Surgeons rely on the Frazier suction tube to keep blood and fluid out of the surgical field. Surgeons control the suction with a finger over the vent, so they can switch between gentle and strong suction.

Finger-controlled suction

Neurosurgery needs suction that the surgeon can adjust instantly. Because the Frazier pattern uses a finger vent, the surgeon covers or uncovers it to change the pull. That control protects delicate tissue.

Sizes and light options

The straight tube measures 19 cm. We offer French sizes from 6 to 12 Fr. You can also choose a version with a fiber optic light or one without, which gives fourteen straight options. In addition, a 45° angled tube at 18 cm comes in 6 Fr and 12 Fr without a light. The angle helps when the field sits around a corner.

Light or no light

A fiber optic version adds light at the working end. For instance, that helps in a deep or narrow cavity. However, many surgeons already have enough light from the microscope and choose the plain version.

Choosing a French size

Fr refers to the French or Charriere gauge. Smaller sizes suit fine microsurgical work, while larger ones clear more fluid quickly. Many teams stock two or three sizes of the tube.

Caring for your suction tube

Run water through the Frazier lumen straight after the case, so blood cannot clot inside. Then pass a cleaning stylet or brush through it. Next, dry the tube inside and out, then sterilize it by your usual cycle.
