Description
Feldman Retractor, 14 cm
The Feldman retractor is a short, hand-held pattern for oral surgery. It measures 14 cm, or 5-1/2 inches, and comes in one fixed size. Assistants use it to hold soft tissue clear, so the surgeon keeps a direct view of bone. It is all stainless steel.
Why a 14 cm Length Helps the Assistant
Longer retractors can crowd the field near the face. At 14 cm, however, this one keeps the assistant’s hand close to the mouth. That gives steady control with less wrist strain. It also leaves room for suction and the surgeon’s handpiece at the same time.
Typical Moments to Reach for It
You might use it in several ways:
- Holding a reflected flap away from a ridge during drilling.
- Keeping the lip back while a graft is placed.
- Pulling the cheek clear for a posterior suture.
Because the pattern is compact, it also works well in children and small adults.
Feldman or the Tongue and Cheek Pattern
We also sell a Tongue and Cheek Retractor at the same 14 cm length. The catalogue lists the two side by side. So the real difference is the blade shape on each end. Look at both photos, then pick the profile your assistant finds easiest to hold.
Keeping the Blade Smooth
Retractors contact tissue for long stretches. For that reason, check the blade edges after each cycle and set aside any piece with a nick or burr.
We source steel that satisfies ASTM F899 for surgical instruments. Each retractor then gets a close look from our inspection team in the United States. In addition, the warranty covers three years against manufacturing defects anywhere along this Feldman pattern. See every pattern under Surgical Retractors, or compare it with the Tongue and Cheek Retractor, 14 cm. Answers on returns sit in the FAQs.
For trained surgical and dental staff only. It ships non-sterile, so sterilize it first as described in Care and Sterilization. Turnaround times are on Shipping and Delivery.
