Description
Defourmentel Bone Rongeur Forceps
The Defourmentel bone rongeur is a slim, 18 cm instrument for thin bone. It reaches into narrow spaces, such as the nose and face.
A slim profile
The narrow jaws fit into tight corridors. Therefore the surgeon can trim bone without widening the approach. That suits nasal and facial work especially well.
Controlled removal
Each bite lifts only a small fragment. As a result, thin structures can be reshaped little by little. Fractures and mucosal tears become less likely.
Who uses the Defourmentel bone rongeur
Rhinoplasty and septal surgeons rely on it. Also, facial fracture teams use it to trim bone edges. Hand surgeons sometimes use it on very thin cortex.
Technique
Pass the jaws in under direct vision or endoscopic view. Then nibble gently and pull out to empty the cups. Keep movements slow and deliberate.
Why slim matters
The nose offers little room for bulky jaws. Consequently, a slim rongeur preserves mucosa and keeps the view open. That benefit carries over to other narrow fields.

Our cover behind the rongeur
Surgeons get three years against manufacturing defects across every rongeur on every unit. Any rongeur has a hand once-over from Atlanta staff before it ships. Most departments keep a spare rongeur to avoid delays. FDA listings include ASTM F899 under steel in surgical instruments. We also check stock for your clinic. Our FAQ list covers payment questions. Often bought with it is the Zaufal rongeur. Search the entire orthopedic lineup for related tools.
