Dastoor Strabismus Forceps
The Dastoor strabismus forceps gives you four set builds. Choose 1:2 teeth at 10 cm or 11 cm, 2:3 teeth at 11 cm, or plain tips at 11 cm. So you can match the tip to the tissue and the length to your hand.
Four Dastoor builds
Each option pairs a tooth pattern with a length. Because the choices come as fixed sets, check the exact one you want. For example, the 2:3 version only comes at 11 cm.
- 1:2 teeth, 10.0 cm
- 1:2 teeth, 11.0 cm
- 2:3 teeth, 11.0 cm
- Plain tips, 11.0 cm
Which teeth for which job
The 1:2 teeth give a firm, narrow bite on tendon. Meanwhile, 2:3 teeth spread the hold over a little more tissue. Plain tips, on the other hand, suit conjunctiva and capsule layers. So the right tooth form depends on what you hold most often.
10 cm or 11 cm
The shorter build keeps the hand close to the eye. On the other hand, the 11 cm version adds reach, which helps with deep fornix work. Most surgeons pick the length that matches their other forceps. Then match your tray, so every forceps feels the same in the hand.
Cleaning toothed and plain tips
Clean all versions the same way. First, rinse off blood at once. Then brush the tips and check them under a loupe. Also, store them with tip guards so the teeth stay aligned.
Ordering a Dastoor set
All four builds reach you non-sterile and remain reusable. Every Dastoor carries three years against manufacturing defects. Dastoor steel satisfies ASTM F899. For a lighter 9.5 cm option, see the McCullough forceps. Explore the whole ophthalmology section and our FAQ answers too.
