Description
Coupling Screw For Dynamic Hip Screws
The DHS coupling screw links the insertion wrench to the lag screw. It holds the two together so the screw cannot slip off during insertion.
A small but vital part
Without coupling, the lag screw could separate from the wrench inside the bone. Therefore this screw locks them together. Once the lag screw is in place, it comes out again.
How it is used
The coupling screw passes through the wrench and threads into the back of the lag screw. Then the surgeon drives the assembly over the guide wire. Finally, the coupling screw is removed.
Who uses a DHS coupling screw
Trauma surgeons use it in every DHS case. Also, scrub staff check it during set counts. Spares are useful because small parts go missing.
Some systems use it again
Certain techniques use the coupling screw to pull the plate onto the lag screw. However, follow your system’s instructions. Each system differs.
Fit
Threads must match your lag screws. Consequently, confirm your system before ordering. Also, we will check fit for you.
DHS coupling screw details

Care

Cover and support
Should each coupling screw show a material fault, you keep three years against manufacturing defects. Each coupling screw passes a thorough once-over in Atlanta prior to packing.
