Description
Canfield Tonsil Knife
The Canfield tonsil knife is a curved cutting instrument for tonsil surgery. Surgeons use it first to open the mucosa, then to divide tissue around the tonsil.
Cutting in a tight space
The oral cavity leaves limited room for a straight blade. So a curved knife helps the surgeon approach the tonsil from the side. The long Canfield handle also keeps fingers clear of your view.
20 cm with a curve
The Canfield pattern in our range measures 20 cm and has a curve. That places it between our 18 cm and 23 cm knives. As a result, many surgeons find it a comfortable middle choice.
When surgeons reach for it
Early in the case, the knife opens the mucosa along the tonsil edge. Then a dissector follows the capsule. The surgeon may return to the Canfield tonsil knife to divide bands of tissue.
Canfield or Douglas?
Both patterns share a 20 cm curved form, so length will not decide it. Therefore, the choice often comes down to blade shape and personal feel. Request photos of each, and we will email them.
Caring for your Canfield knife
Protect the edge at every step of cleaning. So rinse off tissue soon after the case, then brush gently. Dry the Canfield tonsil knife fully before sterilization.
