This short bone lever range holds soft tissue away from small and medium bones. Four compact versions cover broad blades and a slim tip.

How a bone lever works

The tip slides under the bone, and the shaft rests on the edge of the wound. Then a gentle pull on the handle lifts muscle and soft tissue aside. As a result, the surgeon gets a clear view of the bone surface.

Four versions

You can choose a 12 cm lever with a 16 mm blade or a 16 cm lever with a 15 mm blade. In addition, there is a plain 14 cm lever and a 14 cm lever with a narrow 2.8 mm tip. So the set spans broad retraction and fine work.

Where a short bone lever helps

Hand, wrist, foot and ankle surgeons use compact levers like these. They also suit the forearm and clavicle. Meanwhile, the slim-tipped model slips around tiny bones and fracture fragments.

Picking the right one

Broad blades hold more tissue but need more room. By contrast, the 2.8 mm tip fits where nothing else will. Therefore many small-bone trays carry one broad lever and one narrow one.

Lever care

Wash blood off the tip and shaft, paying attention to the underside of the blade. Dry the lever completely before it goes for sterilization. A bent tip should be replaced rather than straightened.
