Description
Balfour Retractor Blades
These Balfour side and middle blades replace worn or missing parts on a Balfour self-retaining retractor. They come as components only, with no frame in the box.
Balfour side and middle blades: middle blades
The middle, or center, blade comes in 40 x 68 mm or 68 x 85 mm. It holds the end of the incision away from the field. So pick the depth that matches your frame and patient.
Side blades in pairs
Side blades come as a pair, one for each arm. Also, you choose a 60 mm or an 80 mm depth. That way, both sides of the wound open evenly.
Why keep spares
A frame sits idle without its blades. However, spares let a set go back into service right away. Plus, they cover a second tray on busy days.
Components for an existing frame
These parts suit teams who already own a Balfour frame. Instead of replacing the whole unit, you swap only the worn piece. Therefore, blades offer an economical fix.
Looking after Balfour side and middle blades
Separate the blades from the frame and wash them one by one. Next, scrub the attachment end, where debris hides after surgery. Finally, keep each side pair together in storage so they stay matched.
