Description
Scoville-Richter Retractor
The Scoville-Richter retractor is a self-retaining retractor for posterior spine surgery. Surgeons place it after the muscle dissection so the wound stays open while both hands stay free.
What the retractor does
Once the surgeon spreads the arms, the retractor holds the soft tissue apart on its own. As a result, the assistant does not have to pull by hand for the length of the case. That steady exposure helps during laminectomy and disc work.
Two ways to order
You can choose the retractor only, or the retractor complete with 2 blades. The frame-only option suits a team that already owns blades. Meanwhile, the complete version gives a new tray everything it needs to start.
Adding more blades
Blade depth decides how far the retractor reaches into the wound. So many hospitals buy extra blades in other sizes. We sell spare blades separately in five sizes, which lets you build a range for different patients.
Which option suits you
If this is your first Scoville-Richter frame, the complete set is the simpler choice. However, if you are replacing a damaged frame, the retractor only may be enough. Tell us what you already have, and our team will propose a Scoville-Richter option.
Caring for your Scoville-Richter retractor
Take the blades off before cleaning, since debris collects where they join the arms. Then scrub each part with a soft brush and rinse well. Also open and close the frame under running water. Dry every piece before sterilizing and storing them together.
