Description
Modell-Tubingen Retractor
The Modell-Tubingen retractor is a long hand-held instrument with a narrow blade. Its 28 cm length and 95 x 20 mm blade suit deep, tight fields.
Long and narrow blade
The blade runs 95 mm deep but only 20 mm wide. So it slips into narrow openings without crowding them. That keeps room for other instruments beside it.
A 28 cm body
The long body lets the assistant stand back from the wound. Meanwhile, the surgeon keeps a clear view down to the base. Then lights and hands avoid clashing.
Controlled by hand
As a hand-held tool, it lets the assistant fine-tune tension. Also, it lifts out quickly when the surgeon moves to another area. Plus, it needs no frame, clamp or mounting on the table.
Where it fits
Deep abdominal, pelvic and retroperitoneal work often calls for a narrow retractor. In addition, it helps where a wide blade would block the view. Pair the Modell-Tubingen retractor with a broad blade for combined exposure.
Reprocessing Modell-Tubingen retractor
Clean along the full length of the narrow blade, not just the tip. Then rinse and inspect it under good light for any dried soil. Also, keep it flat in storage to protect the straight line.
